Liz Cooper
I am an Assistant Professor in Strategy and Enterprise at Heriot‑Watt University. My research examines how people discuss and negotiate environmental and social sustainability in organisational contexts, using discursive psychology to analyse real‑world interactions. I work on projects exploring decision‑making and influence in organisational contexts, sustainability advocacy, and role morality in work and non‑work contexts.
Before joining academia, I worked for over a decade in sustainability management, with experience in multi‑stakeholder projects on sustainable procurement, supply chains, circular economy, and fair trade in the UK, Senegal, and India.
I am a founding member of the Sustainable Circular Innovation Lab and the SOCIAL Impact Lab, and an elected member of the Royal Society of Edinburgh Young Academy of Scotland (2022–2027). I am also involved in national networks, including the British Academy of Management’s Sustainable and Responsible Business SIG, the British Academy Early Career Researcher Network, and the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC).
